What Is Corporate Pilates?
Our corporate offering has been designed to provide a simple and effective way to help organisations promote exercise and create a better working environment for their staff.
Many companies now recognise the health benefits that can be gained from providing fitness training for their employees at work and are organising activities as a way of showing their commitment to a healthy workforce.
Pilates can be an energising start to the day, a restorative break over lunchtime or a great way to release tension at the end of the working day. Pilates is great for anyone who sits at a desk all day or spends long periods of time on their feet. Many workplaces now organise activities such as Pilates classes as part of a wellness programme - this helps boost staff morale and shows the employer's commitment to a healthy workforce.
Pilates is an ideal form of exercise for the workplace as it does not require any special equipment. We just need an open space, usually a meeting room or conference room where furniture can be moved easily. Classes can be organised as part of a course, on a regular weekly basis or as an initial Pilates taster session, perhaps as part of a Healthy Living Week programme. Regular exercise helps regulate mood and promotes mental health too.
Corporate classes give colleagues a chance to exercise together at a designated time every week. It is a fun, social and very personal workout for colleagues to enjoy.
Corporate classes: £70.00 - £90.00
Can be paid by the organisation for the employees, or by collective interest of employees or has happened a combination of both. Please email Katerina or call 01493 271726 / 07852722312 to discuss company requirements and availability.
Why Choose Pilates?
Pilates also fosters a priceless sense of wellbeing in its followers. According to Joseph Pilates himself, it "invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit". The Pilates method is unusual since it brings not only physical but also psychological benefits, in that it contributes positively to our mood.
Regardless of where you work, including a session of Pilates to help combat the physical strains of poor posture and repetitive movement can provide immediate and long term benefits for your staff or co-workers. Pilates is perfect exercise for a busy workforce because it can help to relieve stress and improve concentration. Because Pilates focuses on the deep abdominal muscles it is perfect for anyone who sits at a desk all day and needs to work on improving their posture. Equally, people who spend long periods of time on their feet are at risk of developing a variety of back problems which could be alleviated with correct posture.
Staff absence and incapacity is costing your business.Unsurprisingly, the two single biggest causes of workplace absenteeism in the UK today are musculoskeletal problems – chiefly back related – and stress. In 2013/4, they accounted for almost 31 and 11 million lost working days respectively.
The Benefits of Pilates
Pilates focuses on six key principles: : centering, concentration, precision breath and flow. Among many other things, these elements are designed to:
- improve posture
- develop muscle tone
- strengthen and stabilise the core
- enhance flexibility
- build better balance
- improve bone strength
- Joint mobility
- rehabilitation after injury, surgery or illness
Quality is more important than quantity in Pilates, so if you do the movements correctly, you will find that they yield significant results much faster than you might think.

Me and Pilates
I previously worked for British Airways and as a member of cabin crew. Seven years ago I got diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, my GP recommended Pilates to help elevate the joint pain. Pilates is a conditioning routine that helps build flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. Pilates for me relieved arthritis pain and improved my joint function.
I am now comprehensively trained classical repertoire teacher. I've undergone 15 months of in depth study of the Pilates Method as a complete body of work, the length and depth of the training programme allows the time to develop your own personal development both theoretically and physically with continuous ongoing education. Further training in working with specialised / chronic conditions allows them to join the register of NHSTA Complementary Health Pracitioners.
The Pilates Foundation is recognized by the NHS Trusts Association in its Directory of Health Service Providers.
